Crunchyroll is NOW streaming episodes 2 of 3 new and currently airing Hakuoki (2021) OVA with the last to release in Japan later this month and assumedly on Crunchyroll as well!!
This new josei OVA based on the beloved Hakuōki ~Shinsengumi Kitan~ game that spawned a whole franchise is once again in the competent hands of Studio Deen. (YAY!) It is the first animated adaptation since 2016’s chibi series, Hakuoki: Otogisōshi (the only series or OVA animated instead by DLE).
The OP, “Setsuna no Kodō” (Split-Second Heartbeat), is absolute fire! Check it out below, and enjoy the first two episodes on Crunchyroll now as we await the final with bated breath!! ❤
Please understand that I have absolutely no chill about this. You do not understand how much I am going to SCREAM AND CHEER AND CRY ABOUT THIS!!!!! MY FAVORITE SHOW, BACK AGAIN! ❤ ❤ ❤

Now, if only we could by this on Blu-ray from Sentai Filmworks! I have hope they’ll release it for us as they have every series except Otogisōshi. I own every bit of the anime released on DVD/Blu-ray in the west, and I’d love to add to that collection in case they ever stop streaming. (I can’t tell you how happy I am to own them ever since all but the movies stopped streaming on HIDIVE.)
Rumor (really, Anime News Network) has it that… well, I’ll just quote. “The three parts will also ship on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on December 24, 2021, January 28, 2022, and February 25, 2022.” I don’t anticipate we’ll get a dub (though I want one so BADLY, can you imagine?? I would go feral!!), but I do think odds are that we will see a release eventually. ❤
With Love and Much Jubilation,
Shoujo 🌸
