“Fuyu no Hanashi,” from the anime “Given” (English)

Just like a sprinkling of snow left in the shade
When spring arrives, these feelings, they will stay
What words are there to clear my bed of love?
And should I even want to try
when everything that blooms
grows to look like you?

Your life was lost to winter’s edge,
and you’ve no more tomorrows
Without goodbye, my closure plucked,
how can I still expect to grow?
Your everything at once was lost
and even memories have thorns
Remains entangle me

You are a summer spell that winter cannot break,
A curse that springtime melodies can’t shake
How do I shed these tears weighing me down?
Your memory, it follows me
but still I cannot let go
Where’s my future now?
Ahhhhh!

[instrumental]

So will my tears water the ground
Or will they freeze like winter rain?
There’s been a drought left lingering here
ever since you went away
We’re out of time--
that’s all that’s left
No analogy can say
Were torn apart and yet you’re here

Your life was lost to winter’s edge,
and you’ve no more tomorrows
Without goodbye, my closure plucked,
how can I still expect to grow?
Your everything at once was lost
and even memories have thorns
Remains entangle me

I wrote this with the intent for it to be sung to a slow, instrumental ballad backtrack. I’ll record it when Audacity works with my mic again, but I’ve had this written for forever, and I’ve been having technical trouble for just as long. I was really touched by this song and the show from which it originates, so I hope that when the time comes, you’ll take a listen. ❤ Thanks for reading. Review of the show here.

    1. I never did, but you know—even though I only have a phone mic, still—maybe I’ll try tomorrow? See how it goes? Because the Given movie is out, so I’m anticipating major emotions, and I’m so excited!!
