Feature a Sci-fi Character You Like (30 Day Character Challenge, Day 20)

Guys, as a general rule, I don’t watch science fiction anime. Remember my whole thing about “Please, dear goodness, no mechas, please no?” And while I am all about Planetes, the challenge specifies that I’m supposed to feature like a robot or an alien or something! What’s a girl to do? I’m wracking my brain here, because it’s not like I’m going to skip a challenge day…

OH WAIT, I KNOW.

Yuki Nagato (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) is an “alien,” right?

Well, at least as close as we’re gonna get here.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of her immediately, the quiet girl with [content redacted for spoilers] who proves to be the the SOS Brigade’s own “alien” in the whole “time travelers, aliens, and espers” thing that Haruhi is so hung up about. While it’s not my anime genre, I really enjoyed Haruhi and thought that Yuki was a great character. Every character in that title was well done, so that should surprise no one. In fact, I am so dedicated to not spoiling the title for anyone who hasn’t seen it that I won’t write any more on Yuki, actually. If you’ve seen it, then you know already, and if you haven’t, I challenge you to watch the show for yourself; you won’t regret it.

One thing’s for sure; I’m not going to be the one to preemptively mess it up for you, guys.

What do you think of Yuki? Do you have a favorite sci-fi character? Let me know in the comments below!

Keep on Keeping On!
