More Than I Can Be — cover of “You Raise Me Up” from Romeo x Juliet

This is one of the dozens of things sitting on my computer that I wasn’t planning on sharing yet, but I really wanted to test out my new “share to Tumbler” feature on the blog, and I’m quite impatient sometimes…

I’m risking it. (*/_\)

I still wish I knew how to edit better, because when I go off pitch here and there, I think it would be such a simple little fix if I knew what I was doing, instead of just having to record it and hope for the best. And then I could stop cringing at myself all the time and actually post more content…

And moving on from that, does anyone else simply adore the words to “You Raise Me Up” like I do? I mean, “There is no life, no life without it’s hunger; each restless heart beats so imperfectly” is just so beautiful…

Time for a few Romeo x Juliet flashbacks. ❤

“When I am down, and oh, my soul so weary–

When troubles come, and my heart burdened be–

Then I am still and wait here in the silence

Until you come and sit a while with me.”

You can find the backtrack here. It was a great track, and I’m really thankful for it!

The cover art is by ShaineA. I found it on Google.

  1. Excellent song, and great voice to go with it! I really wanted to cover this at one point too. 😊
Out of curiosity, what do you use to record? Did you use a mic and have the music playing in the background? The voice comes through pretty clearly~

    1. Hehe, thank you. It was a one-take, spur of the moment thing, but I’m very glad you liked it!

In this instance, I used Audacity software. (It’s free!) One backtrack and one singing track. I just sing into the mic connected to my computer. In the case of my CV narration because it was not intended to be a shared thing, I honestly just held my phone up to the Vita and started reading. I don’t think that as much would be quality for singing, though…
