“YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS.
HE’S ALREADY BEEN HURT.
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE, ANYWAY?”

In Hakuouki: Warrior Spirit of the Blue Sky, Kazama and Hijikata face off one final time.

I’ve never tried to rush though my life. What I’ve done is accept my responsibility to everyone!
-Hijikata
The name fury that belongs to those fakes is no match for your life and the way you’ve chosen to live it. You have transcended, and you are already a devil. And, as such, you deserve a devil’s name. You are… Hakuouki.
-Kazama
Watch for more.

Edit:
In my effort to let the scene speak for itself, I may have neglected to explain exactly why I chose this scene. I was talking with Rose (https://wretchedanddivine.wordpress.com/) in the comment below, however, and thought that perhaps I needed to elaborate.
Thus:
I didn’t want to give away too much in this post because I feel strongly that to get the most out of Hakuouki one must engage with it personally, but THIS is the scene from which the title of the franchise is derived. This scene compounds ALL of Hijikata’s struggles and trials into one final battle and moment of recognition. It is a moment featured in the theatrical films that isn’t present in the series, and now that there is a dub of this particular film, everything is perfect. ♡♡♡♡♡
Visually stunning and the climax of Hijikata’s journey: yes, everything is captured beautifully.
We have come full circle. The trial began for Chizuru as she found herself held at swordpoint by Hijikata, terrified and yet utterly captivated as snow like cherry blossoms fluttered with his hair in the night breese. It seems only fitting that, in the end, she watches him fight for the final time surrounded by those same blossoms.
Wow the cherry blossoms in the background and the night sky makes everything so beautiful! It really captures the characters’ expressions well.

Thank you. 🙂 Maybe I wasn’t clear enough about my reasons for choosing this scene. Perhaps I’ll add a post-blog edit.
